Kalief Browder and the passing of "Kalief's Law"
For some bizarre reason (although I can speculate a few), there is very little coverage of this most recent law drafted called Kalief's law. It still needs Senate majority to pass, but will likely be approved. There are almost no news sites covering this major constitutional triumph. There are a few African american demo news websites that mention it but even those sites were clearly given far too little information to write anything substantive about it. The articles, all largely the same, state that this is a bill that increases the speed at which youth offenders are prosecuted. But it also states that they can't be placed in solitary (already in the NYC policy guide). So I'm not sure if it covers both, or only one.
